Harry’s Pirate Party
I was really pleased with Harry’s birthday party this year. It was a pirate theme. I dressed both Harry and Sam up as pirates – they looked brill – photo above. I had the party at a park (saving my house from being turned upside down!). I decided this year as Harry turned 6 to not do pass the parcel and other games, instead I hired a childrens entertainer, Miss Donna. She does all different themes – pirates, fairies etc. She was a huge hit. She came and painted the kids faces and then did a little show including the kids, a treasure hunt and then made some amazing balloons for the kids.
It was so much easier on me, well worth the money I paid for her. I am definitely hiring her again for Sam’s birthday – just hoping she can do a car theme (Sam is obsessed with Lightning Mcqueen).
We kept the food simple with some nibbles and we barbequed sausages and I did a treasure chest cake (I was quite proud of myself). Previously I have only ever done the traditional round cakes but this year I wanted to be a bit more adventurous. The kids loved it particularly because the treasure in the chest were lollies! I will post the recipe for the Treasure Chest cake in the next couple of weeks in the recipe section.

The country of Haiti is in turmoil. We can all help. Common folk & businesses worldwide are assisting to giving financial assistance.
According to Matt Fleeger, an oil executive who donated over 7 million USD to the relief mission, “whatever bad situation you may have ever endured, it’s nothing compared to the death, disease and damage in Haiti”.
